Later Acheulian Marking Motifs II - Other Sites / e)observ12

La grotte de l’Observatoire, Monaco, ‘Rissian’, lozange-shaped biface having a natural or intentionally engraved lattice consisting of one vertical line centrally placed and 6 cross lines, the lines’ separation diminishing as they proceed upward (de Lumley 1976:835, fig.12.5). This piece has received no discussion beyond de Lumley’s listing and illustration. It would help if it received thorough re-examination. It is unlikely that it is non-deliberately engraved or utilized.
