HK148b Aterian Hut Site, Har Karkom, Israel, Gallery 2 -- West Sector
c. greater than 100,000 to 24,000 BP; n) hk148b #13a elephant

Aterian hutfloor HK 148b, West Sector, artifact #13a; flint.

Tentative interpretation (James Harrod): This flint artifact appears to bear multiple images, hippo + elephant. Rotated 180 degrees, at this angle it appears to be elephant-like, with head and trunk. If this is intended to be an elephant, interestingly, it has a double dome on its head, thus representing an Asiatic elephant (Elephas maximus). If elephant+hippo, this repeats the same combination apparently represented on artifact #10 (image (h) this Gallery).
