HK19A and 19B, Har Karkom, Israel, c. 128,000 to 50,000 BP; n) hk19b #4 feline on ledge

From the white stone circle, in hutfloor, HK19B, artifact #4. Placed on heavy weight paper background for photo. Size: 8 cm. by 4.5 cm. maximal distances.

Tentative interpretation (James Harrod): Intentionally engraved artifact; zoomorphic; feline on ledge, facing left. Like sculptures #2 and #3, this piece has a flat base that allows the object to stand upright. The object has a break in it but still remains intact. Much of the flaking appears intentional, especially the strike removing a flake for the head and a second in the shoulder area, which suggests crouching posture of the animal, and suggests a leopard.
